DANIEL SANTOS

(Both Songs Sung In Spanish)

SIDE A:     ROSA

SIDE B:     SUEÑO GUAJIRO

MEGARARE and Hard-To-Find original Orfeon Records very first PROMOTIONAL Mono press released by Orfeon Records, made and distributed in Mexico in 1963 by Discos Mexicanos S.A., catalog number 45-1299, with hand etched matrix numbers 45-1299-A 42150 in Side A and 45-1299-B 42146 in Side B, with white/black Orfeon Records labels of the period and large center. It’s interesting to notice that in the deadwax of both sides it’s written the exact day of pressing, “2-IX-63” (September 2nd of 1963). Yes, Sirs, ANOTHER FIND from South America!!!

The first to tell about this single is that it was only released in Mexico and includes two songs written by Agustín Lara, sung by legendary Puerto Rican singer and composer Daniel Santos, already famous as vocalist of La Sonora Matancera. Song titles are written in Spanish only, with full credits for Agustín Lara as songwriter and additional information about the style of music, “Bolero” both songs, and play time of each song. In both labels you can see the text written with silver lettering “PARA PROMOCION PROHIBIDA SU VENTA” (For Promotion Sale Forbidden). So, here you have the chance to get and own this MEGARARE MEXICAN PROMOTIONAL PRESS of this OBSCURE SINGLE by Daniel Santos, a record almost never seen and maybe now auctioned here in eBay by the very first time!!! A MUST TO HAVE for all fans, lovers and collectors of Daniel Santos, La Sonora Matancera, Agustín Lara and Latin Soul/Bolero music of the ‘60’s!!!

This record doesn’t have a cover. The record is in nice VG or VG+ condition both sides, glossy and clean, with many soft scuffs and light hairlines, hard to see at first sight, with a very light warp, which don’t affect play at all. Labels are in great EX- or EX condition both sides, with some spindle hole wear, faint age browning and some light small scratches. The sound is in strong VG+ or even EX- condition both sides, loud, clear and clean, virtually no background noise, with occasional soft crackles, which don’t cause major distraction from the loud and clear sound this record keeps from the beginning to the end. Overall, this is a great record in this MEGARARE and UNIQUE MEXICAN PROMOTIONAL PRESS, maybe not for strict Minty minds or audiophiles, but with still a very nice glossy look, almost immaculate labels and great sound quality after about 61 years, which won’t disappoint anyone and will satisfy any serious collector who knows the real level of rarity of this Mexican record!!! Yes, Sirs, what a FIND!!! Click on the pictures to enlarge and see the labels and cover in detail. WOW!!!

Bid with confidence and don’t wait until the last second because you could lose the chance to get a real collectable record from Chile (South America) in superb condition like this copy is. You know South American records aren’t easy to get in good conditions, so HAPPY BIDDING and don’t let this record to go away… you could never see a so good copy of this record again… if you are lucky enough to see even another copy again…

Thanks for watching and bidding, good luck and best regards from Chile

____________________________________________

We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.

MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.

NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

FEEDBACK

We don’t have anything to hide and we know the buyers expect to receive feedback after to pay for the items they win. Most of sellers say to give feedback when buyers leave feedback first. But we know that’s not fair for buyers. So, we leave feedback immediately after to receive the payment, because we understand that’s the part that buyers must receive feedback for. And we expect to receive positive feedback from buyers who receive the records immediately after they have got the records.
