Please find for offer a finely carved “Grotesque” caricature portrait walking stick, dating to the second half of the 19th century. This walking stick depicts the head of a man with a large nose and wearing a hat. This is a substantial sized walking stick that is carved in the “art populaire”/folk art style and the portrait has inset glass eyes. The blackthorn shaft retains much of its bark.

Length: 91.7cm. Width: 15.2cm.

Condition:

Age related split to the nose. Areas of loss to the bark shaft. Some old worm holes to shaft (treated). Age related wear as expected but overall in good condition. Please examine photos carefully.
