THIS! These records are NOT sold
for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading.
They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise
that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning. I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t
bid if this is a problem for you.
So with that

Beatles LP 1968 White Album, First
Pressing Complete, A-Plates All 4 Sides, 4 Errors!
Although
these sides bear A-plates, they aren’t the compressed mix rejected by
George. They are, however, the very next
plates, making this copy one of the very earliest pressings from the first run. The plates that were slated to be destroyed
stopped at A33. This copy has A34 and
A36 plates!
Vinyl--- VG+/VG+. VG+/VG+. All four sides look like respectably clean vinyl, with the
exceptions of one or two long, light lines and a few other short ones. Not EX, and not purporting to be.
Plates--- A36/A34. A36/A34. Machine-stamped asterisk in the dead wax makes this copy
pressed in Los Angeles.
Cover--- Nice VG+! It actually presents as EX.
Very white cover, although it’s not perfect. Very light stains in corner. Top seams have moderate shelfwear, pockets
have splits of an inch. Bottom seams
have much lighter shelfwear, no splits.
Spine is muscular-strong, however the text did not print as darkly as it
should have.
Gatefold--- VG. The gatefold would have been easily graded VG+ or maybe even
Excellent, but someone has modestly drawn small circles in blue ballpoint next
to the songs they like. NO CENTER SEAM SPLITS.
Labels--- NM/NM. NM/NM. All labels look brand new!
NO SPINDLE MARKS. Record 1 labels carry the first four errors.
Photos--- All four photos are present and in Excellent condition. Very few finger divots among all of
them. Full gloss, NO PIN HOLES. Gorgeous set
of photos!
Poster--- VG. Poster has a lot of finger divots and signs of handling. Creases have small splits, all less than one
inch long.
Apple Inner Sleeves--- EX. NO SPLITS.
A generic
inner sleeve will be provided, so as not to damage your original Capitol inner
sleeve en route.
*You just don’t see plates this early. These may be in VG+ condition, but they’re so
few and far between that you may never get the chance at another set!
As these
records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling
and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher
or a VPI machine always clears them up.
Thanks!)
Note: All LP’s ship outside of their album covers in order not to
damage the covers during shipment.
CAUTION! There has been a startling increase in bidders canceling their bids. A word to the wise, I have started blocking
any and all bidders who retract their bids regardless of the reason.
Please don’t bid unless you’re
willing to honor your amount, okay? Thanks!
(Please
note: Regarding
play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized. The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and
I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle.
Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix? Thanks!)
