Here is a CD for the jazz fan. This CD, “McCoy Tyner Plays Ellington”, was given to me when I worked for GRP/Impulse Records in the 1990s. The following information applies to this title:

“McCoy Tyner Plays Ellington” is the sixth album by American jazz pianist McCoy Tyner. It was recorded in December 1964 and originally released on the Impulse! label in 1965. It features performances by Tyner with his John Coltrane bandmates: bassist Jimmy Garrison and drummer Elvin Jones. Percussionists Willie Rodriguez and Johnny Pacheco appear on four of the tracks. It would be Tyner's last effort for the label, before signing with Blue Note.

The album was recorded at Rudy van Gelder’s studio in New Jersey, produced by Bob Thiele. The album included 7 tracks, just over 30 minutes of music. This CD release is a 20 bit K2 SuperCoding mastering.*
