This very old knife is made by Steer and Webster of Castle Hill Sheffield. Difficult to read the last letter or two but I used a microscope and am confident of it's origin.  It still has a little snap which I believe will improve as the oil works its magic on a rusty tang. According to Goins this company made items from 1833-1867 so it is quite a find in this condition. My guess is that the blade is cast steel but is not marked as such. The blade is 1-7/8 inches long and of an interesting shape the tip is rounded as opposed to pointed and does not appear to have been tipped or modified as the blade fills the entire space of the folded knife. Closed the knife is 2-5/16 inches with brass scales with practically no damage. The blade itself has corrosion and a few chiggers but I should be so lucky at that age. When I first harvested it, I thought it was a gent's quill knife but over the years and studying the design at the foot end I have come to believe it could be a cigar cutter as well as a quill knife. I am totally guessing as I have never seen another like it. I'm guessing at cast steel blade as well as it closely resembles other knives I have had that were marked cast steel. Please use your best judgement. I think it's a special item. No Reserve

Please look carefully at all the pics. I strive to take high res pictures that show every wart I can find. For two reasons. First, to be fair to all that look at my items and second, At 78 and battling cancer I do not want to give any excuse for an item to be returned. I want all things heading one way.

Thanks for looking at my items. Must be 18 Yrs or older to purchase. Please ask questions if you have them. I'm not the expert but I'll do my best. I don't accept returns with the exception that if I have made an error I will make it right. I ship upon receipt of cleared payment and will combine shipping on multiple purchases when you ask because I rarely look to see if someone has bought more than one item. I'm a get paid, pack and ship ASAP guy.   I have been burned shipping overseas to the point I will no longer do that. I can be talked into using the eBay Global shipping program on the rare occasion .  I strive to ship reasonably. I don't like high shipping charges on my purchases either. Thanks again for looking.
