Here's a first double volume edition of Jules Verne's 'Le Testament d'un Excentrique' or the 'The Will of an Excentric', published by Hetzel in 1899, in the Globe Doree binding style. A millionaire leaves his fortune to whoever can win a game he has devised, a race or scavenger hunt type game which sends the five teams selected all over the U.S. Kind of like 'Amazing Race', but in 1899. Heavily illustrated with 61 illustrations by Roux, of which 20 are larger (colorized) chromotypographs, 35 photograph views of the US. Includes a fold out board game, and a map. All edges gilt.

Condition is Very Good-, with an area of loss to the cloth at lower spine. See the photo which compares this book's lower spine (on the right) with another Globe Doree Hetzel. Otherwise, covers are nice with only some light wear, a very strong front board, and hardly any foxing inside.
