TEN YEARS AFTER
“A SPACE IN TIME”
WOW!!! WOW!!! WOW!!! MEGARARE and Hard-To-Find original
CBS Records very first High Fidelity Stereo press released by CBS Records, made
and distributed in Chile in 1972 by Industrias Eléctricas Y Musicales Odeon,
S.A. (Odeon Records Chile), licensed from CBS, U.S.A., catalog number (S)LPC-37072,
with hand etched matrix number AL-30801. 10 in Side A and BL-30801. C (it looks
like a “C” etched 4 times, one of top of the other, maybe it’s a symbol) in
Side B, with traditional orange/black CBS Records labels of the period, with centered
big boxed “CBS” logo!!! Yes, Sirs, another FIND from Chile!!!
“A SPACE IN TIME” was originally released in August
1971 in the UK and USA and we had to wait until 1972 to see this album by Ten
Years After released here in Chile and, like usual in the period, we got it
with an UNIQUE COVER, made of two single thin cardboards kept held for an outer
plastic bag, which’s also part of the cover. Front cover keeps strictly the
original UK artwork, with the picture of the band and album title, written in
English, translated to Spanish, with CBS Records logo at top left corner (the
original US front cover adds the song titles). Back cover also keeps the
original UK artwork, with the picture of the guitar, but in Chile it’s fully
orange-tinted, with the tracklist written in English, translated to Spanish,
with full credits for songwriters, production and String arrangements of song
“Over The Hill” for Del Newman, with CBS Records logo and catalog number at top
right corner and additional information about licenses at bottom edge. In
labels, the album title and tracklist are written in Spanish, translated to
English, with full credits for songwriters and additional information about
licenses. So, here you have the chance to get and own this great
album by Ten Years After in this MEGARARE CHILEAN PRESS, with UNIQUE COVER,
UNIQUE ORANGE-TINTED BACK COVER and Spanish-written album and song titles, a
record almost never seen and A MUST TO HAVE for all fans, lovers and collectors
of Psych/Blues Rock music of early ‘70’s and especially for all fans, lovers
and collectors of Ten Years After or Alvin Lee!!!
The cover was already described and it’s in great EX-
or EX condition, clean and clear, with some wear in all edges, more evident in corners,
with some little rips at bottom corners, with a mark of humidity at bottom back
cover, with a very faint crease at top left corner of back cover, without ring
marks, the faint ring marks seen on the pictures aren’t on the paper, only in
the plastic, it’s complete and free of marks of any kind. The outer plastic bag
is in VG+ or EX- condition, it’s complete, a bit dirty in some parts, with some
little rips, more evident in the mouth edge and bottom edge, where the record
stands, it has worked very well protecting the cardboards. The record is in
strong EX- or EX condition both sides, glossy and clean, with many very soft
scuffs and light hairlines, hard to see at first sight, which don’t affect play
at all. The labels are in EX+ or NM- condition both sides, clean and clear,
with only minimal spindle hole wear. The sound is in strong EX- or even EX condition
both sides, loud, clean and clear, virtually no background noise (background
noise was normal in most of records pressed in Chile), with constant very soft
crackles and occasional and mostly barely audible very light clicks here and
there, which don’t cause major distraction from the loud and clear sound this
record keeps from the beginning to the end. Overall, this is a great record by Ten
Years After in this MEGARARE CHILEAN PRESS, with UNIQUE COVER, UNIQUE ORANGE-TINTED
BACK COVER and Spanish-written album and song titles, maybe not for the
strictest Minty minds or audiophiles, but for sure it’s still in a great
condition, with a very nice and free of marks cover and with a glossy record,
almost immaculate labels and great sound quality after about 52 years, which shouldn’t
disappoint anyone and should satisfy any serious collector who knows the real
level of rarity of this Chilean press!!! What a find!!! Click on the pictures
to enlarge and see the labels and cover in detail. WOW!!!

We don’t use the generic “VG”
most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or
“Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in
professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a
little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can
use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.
MINT (M): I only use this
grade for Sealed records.
NEAR MINT (NM): The record
itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound
quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing
the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or
poster are in like perfect condition.
EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but
there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which
doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or
creasing.
VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but
displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface
marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra
items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has
noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The
cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits,
discoloration, etc.
FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for
properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface
noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
BAD (B): The record is
unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

FEEDBACK
We don’t have anything to hide and we know the
buyers expect to receive feedback after to pay for the items they win. Most of sellers
say to give feedback when buyers leave feedback first. But we know that’s not
fair for buyers. So, we leave feedback immediately after to receive the
payment, because we understand that’s the part that buyers must receive
feedback for. And we expect to receive positive feedback from buyers who
receive the records immediately after they have got the records.
