Offered for auction this desirable and very collectable vintage ROLEX OVETTONE OYSTER PERPETUAL CHRONOMETER with date, ref. # 6105, an automatic "Big Bubbleback" men's watch in a 18K solid gold case, with it's original 18k gold Rolex Jubilee bracelet, manufactured in 1951 and is extremely rare nowadays. It's the best watch of this reference with an original bracelet I've ever seen.
Similar watch was sold at the Antiquorum Auction in New York, Oct 17, 2008 for 72,000 USD.
The watch is in hard to find beautiful condition and looks stunning with it's original off-white color dial, a scarce and early finely milled bezel, a super-oyster ROLEX crown, and a massive screw down case back. The reference and serial numbers between lugs are perfectly visible. Even the luminous markings on the dial are original and fully intact. Date window with a desirable red date wheel.
The "Super Oyster" crown was a non-screw down winding crown fitted to Rolex Oyster watches between around 1951-1953. The 6105 was also one of the relatively few Rolex models to feature the short-lived Super Oyster crown which was produced for only three years. The “Super-Oyster” winding crown was an attempt by Rolex to create a waterproof winding crown which did not need to be screwed down.
The watch is equipped with a genuine vintage Rolex 18 jewels automatic 296 Cal. Certified Chronometer movement that running strong and keeping time excellent.
The watch is supplied with a very desirable original vintage 18k Rolex Jubilee bracelet that would fit up to 7" wrist and shows minimal stretch, ready to wear and enjoy or to grace your vintage watches collection.
This highly collectible timepiece would be an excellent financial investment, always raising its value.
