Description

This is a very cool 2002 Parker Frontier Fountain Pen. The color is like a purplish blue (more purple than blue?). A Parker web site suggests it is 'Translucent Blue', or 'Chromaflair' with a Stainless Steel cap, nib and trim. The photos don't accurately capture the actual color of this pen. One of my favorite features on fountain pens is a slide off cap. It makes it very easy to get to the paper quickly, and back into the pocket as well. This Parker Frontier has a slide-off cap. The grip section of the barrel is rubberized - very comfortable, and is the same color as the barrel. Almost every picture I could find of the Frontier, had a black grip section, so this one is quite attractive.

It is a cartridge or converter filler. A Parker converter is included. It also will work with a standard Parker ink cartridges. Parker cartridges are of good quality, but they only offer limited color choices. Bottled ink comes in hundreds of colors!

The nib I'm guessing, is some type of steel, and is as stiff as an I-beam. At one point, Parker developed a nib material they called 'Octanium'. It consisted of 8 different materials, each with a specific contribution to the nibs performance, e.g. hardness, stiffness, corrosion resistance, etc. The feed has an 'M' on it for a 'Medium' nib, but I think it is leaning towards a 'F'. It is an extremely smooth writer. 'PARKER' plus an engraving is imprinted on the nib. 'PARKER FRONTIER' and 'MADE IN UK A.l' is imprinted on the cap edge, . The 'A.l' is the date code, so 3rd quarter of 2002. It was in production from 1996 until 2012. I like this pen. It is light weight, and about medium in girth, and it writes easily and smoothly. The section and barrel are essentially defect free, and the cap looks new!

This is a very 'cool' pen, especially the section and barrel color. I've not seen one in this color before. It would make a great daily writer or an excellent addition to your fountain pen collection.
