On offer is a near matching pair of Webb Burmese Ware glass vases with bulbous bases and frilly edged rims. Typical of the style, the lower half is a pale yellow and the upper half is pink. Crafted from uranium glass, the vases glow light green under ultraviolet lighting. The vases date to the late 19th century and are unusual in that the glass was made in one solid colour and the pink finish is caused by selective heating. The body is satin finished, and this was achieved by acid etching.

Markings: unmarked.

Approximate size: the vases are slightly different sizes. One is 97mm (3.8") high and the other is 99mm (3.9") high. The penny is shown for size comparison.

Condition: both vases are in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. There are a few stubborn stains inside and a couple of marks on the exterior finish but not enough to detract from the overall appearance. Please note: one vase has a fault in the glass which looks like a trailing line in the surface. I would think that it was caused by the acid etching process finding a weak area in the glass mix.
