VES 1/72 Scale Lavochkin La-15 Fantail Model Kit

Introduction:

You will be bidding on a 1/72 scale model kit of the Lavochkin La-15 fighter, known also by the NATO reporting name Fantail. This kit was produced by VES. The La-15 was an early Soviet jet fighter design and contemporary of the more well known MiG-15. The La-15 first flew in 1948 ands designed to use a new turbojet based on the Rolls-Royce Nene. It was introduced to service in 1949 and performed comparably to the MiG-15, proving popular with pilots. The type was not as favoured by officials however due to its more complex design requiring special tooling. 235 were built but the type saw only a very short service career, being retired after just four years in 1943.

This Model Kit:

This model kit is complete and unstarted. All of the parts are still on the sprues and in a large ziplock bag, with clear parts in a smaller bag within. The Instructions and decals are both in good condition and the box is in good shape and condition too with just some typical minor squashing and shelf wear here and there.

Kit Features and Details:

This kit is moulded in dark olive plastic. Surface details are comprised of very fine rivet line details and engraved panel lines in addition to engraved details throughout all appropriate external surfaces. The cockpit is provided with a good level of detail too and includes an instrument panel and tub with side consoles as well as a very detailed multi-part seat with cushions and a control stick. Other features include a separate positionable rudder, undercarriage that can be built raised or lowered and includes bay interior details and inner door detailing, jet pipe and intake splitter detailing inside the intake and a number of other smaller fittings and details to complete a nicely detailed scale model throughout. Should all build into a great looking model of this lesser known Cold War Soviet jet fighter design.
