For sale is this incredibly rare terracotta pottery anthropomorphic antiquity from modern day Pakistan. This piece is believed to date back to the Indus Valley Civilization (a region commonly known as a cradle of Civilization) which flourished during its Bronze age around 3300 BC through around 1600 BC, when the civilization began to decline. A nearby archeological site on the plains, called Mehrgarh was abandoned as people left for the valley for the developing civilization in the valley (a less arid environment for people to live and work). These people brought in their skilled artisanal crafts, the most significant of which being their terracotta figurines, pots, dishes, and other everyday items. This piece is believed to be an artifact made under the influence of the Mehrgarh either pre or post migration. This piece is made of an orange tinted clay pottery that was designed in an anthropomorphic (or zoomorphic) style. It is possible that this piece once served as a toy, a deity, or a decor piece. Please study the photos for a better indication of condition and sizing. Expect some age related blemishes. Feel free to message with any questions that you may have.
