The "Children of the World" plate series was produced in 1984 by Heinrich Porzellan, a subsidiary of Villeroy & Boch in Germany, to benefit UNICEF, the United Nations Children's Fund. All of these plates are in very good condition, with no chips, cracks, or scratches, except for Egypt, which has a scratch through the country name on the back. All but one bear the artist's name on the front, either "K. Blume" or just "Blume". The Mexico plate does not show a name. The countries represented are Egypt, Germany, India, Japan, Kenya, Malaysia, Mexico, Nepal, Norway, U.S.A., Vietnam, and Yugoslavia. Even though 24,500 of each plate were produced, each of these plates bears a number less than 1000. The Kenya plate is number 4. There is no documentation, nor do we have the original boxes. These have been in a smoke-free home since they were purchased.
