Rockford 525

Rockford Watch Co. 16 size 21 jewel open face lever-set Grade 525 pocket watch.   A scarce watch with a total production believed to be only 1300 made.  Movement is very nicely finished with gold jewel settings, gold balance screws, three-finger bridge plate design with a sunburst pattern nickel damaskeen, spiral damaskeen mirrored steel winding wheels, and with an "RG" marking to its fourth wheel bridge which denotes it as railroad grade.  Dial is double-sunk enamel with script signature and with Arabic hour numerals.  Watch h is housed in a 20 year gold-filled Star Watch Case Co. case.  Movement serial number is 577999.

Running and a very nice looking movement overall with excellent color and luster though with some mild oxide to its larger winding wheel and to a portion of its regulator spring.  Dial faces up well though has some fractures and hairlines around the 11 o'clock area, a very small surface flake at the 55 minute marker, some scattered faint outer chapter hairlines elsewhere, and a small edge flake under the case bezel at the setting lever area.  Case is attractive with a good overall in-hand look and feel but has some scattered fine scratches, some scattered nicks, and has a mild small soft dent to its rear just left of center visible as rippling of reflection.   Glass crystal has a tiny finish bubble at its lower-right perimeter.
