Alexis Bittar was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1968 to parents who were both, university professors and antique collectors.  From them, Alexis developed a love for antique and vintage jewelry and as a teenager, he began selling pieces on the street corner.  In 1990, Alexis Bittar began carving his Lucite collection from his one bedroom apartment.  He was discovered by Dawn Mello, fashion director of Bergdorf Goodman, who opened the doors for him into retailing.  By 1998, he had his wares in international stores such as Harod's, in London.
He was chosen in 2002, to design the jewelry for the TV show, "Sex and the City."  By 2004, he opened his first boutique and was also named the “Rising Star of the Year” by the prestigious Accessories Council of Excellence (ACE.)  He sold the brand in 2015 to Brooks Brothers.  However, five years later, Brooks Brothers filed for bankruptcy and Alexis Bittar reacquired his brand and expanded the lines.  He now has six boutiques, five in NYC and one in San Francisco.  His jewelry is also in many of the best department stores and has only gained in popularity over the years.
