Two vintage European ceramic beer stein's or tankards.

The larger one  is from Malta and has a makers mark imprinted on the base "No. 5 with a barbed hook shape" but no easily readable, the front cartouche panel shows a traditional Maltese Dghajsa gondola, the remainder of the body is beautifully decorated with elevated roses and leaf wit a hand painted finish, the handle is finished with a tree branch effect.

The smaller one is from Switzerland, it was made by Cotfer which is stamped on the base, it has a front cartouche panel of the Matterhorn and Zermatt printed under, the back shows a couple sitting in a bier garden.

They are both in a very good and clean condition inside and out, there are no cracks, chips or crazing, the paintwork is still very vibrant.  (see photo's).
