Maker: This beautiful dinner or cabinet plate has the green backstamp of Josef Kuba Werkstatte, or JKW, and the green white ware mark of Germany's iconic porcelain maker Rosenthal.

Josef Kuba founded the factory in 1930 in the then-German city of Karlsbad, now Karlovy Vary in the Czech Republic. After World War 2, he moved the factory to Bavaria where it remained until it was closed by Kuba's son in 1989. Source: P.M. & M. Porcelain Marks and More.

Marks and age: The green "J.K.W. Western Germany" mark on this plate - with the date 1930 and without the word Bavaria - was in use between 1952 and 1972. It's stamped over the mark of Rosenthal, which produced the porcelain.

Design: The lovely plate features 2 finely detailed ducks in a pond against a background of reeds, surrounded by a deep blue band.

Size: It's 10 1/2 inches wide and weighs 1 pound 6 ounces.

Condition: The plate is in excellent condition with no nicks, chips, cracks, scratches, stains, repairs, crazing or wear.
