FABULOUS ANTIQUE WALNUT FRENCH DRUM-HEAD DESK/MANTEL CLOCK WITH ALARM c1880

Please make use of the enlarge feature on the photos to fully appreciate all this stunning clock has to offer your home, study or collection.

This is a wonderful, unusual antique clock that has a style and a charm all of its own. Firstly, the colour, finish and patina are superb. The rich, burnt honey colour of the wood making the deeper sepia colour of the fabulous carving really standout. It stands on 4 wonderful "acorn" feet, the superb stepped body tapering upto the drum-head that houses the clock. It stands 9 1/2 inches high, 8 1/2 inches wide and just 5 1/2 inches deep.

The pure white enamel dial, with its crisp/clear Roman numerals, sits behind the thick bevelled glass. Strong blued steel hands mark out the time, while the smaller dial just above the 6 O'clock position allows for the setting of the alarm. The heart of the clock, behind the removable dust cover, is a quality, French, platform movement. The platform allows the clock to run on any surface, level or not, without the need to set it in beat. It is working, keeping good time and is complete with a double ended key.

Condition: as mentioned, working and keeping time. The alarm does work, its spring slips near the end of the wind but the alarm still functions.

A wonderful, impressive and unusual antique clock that will make a perfect focal point in any room.
