This is a 1928 Newcombe Hawley reproducer or speaker. These were connected to battery operated radios in the very early days of radio. Saw it at a recent radio auction, loved the shape & lines and bought it. The overall look is  interesting with rounded top and speaker grilles on both sides. Really love the deco look. The case is both burl walnut veneer and solid wood requiring some TLC. Removed all of the non working  guts.  Sanded the case to bring out the incredible looking dark burl walnut. WOW, please look. Added some toner to bring back the original color. The case was finished with several coats of clear gloss lacquer. A real piece of furniture now. Used 2 pieces of beautiful black/gold vintage speaker cloth to finish the look. Big improvement  Please look at the pics. On the inside, I installed a new Bluetooth digital stereo hi-fi audio amplifier with 50 watts in addition to a big 6.5" Kenwood Pro multi range speaker. Yes this classic is now a real boom box. This thing sounds great.  Installed the on/off/volume switch with the knob on on the back panel as it was originally. In addition there is an AUX input on the back panel for your MP3 or iPhone.  All of the electronics are hard wired and secured to the inner supports insure a long life.  This is one of a kind Bluetooth speaker that is deco cool. A real conversation piece that makes a grand statement. The back panel new. There is a new electrical plug also. The 1928 Newcombe Hawley deco reproducer converted to Bluetooth speaker measures a small 11" x 10" x 8" and is heavy .Will look good, sound great and fit anywhere. Let know if you have any questions.
