Up for sale is this antique original oil painting on canvas  depicting a rural landscape with horses by listed British Artist Charles W. Oswald.
Charles W. Oswald was a Victorian landscape and animal painter known for his work depicting highland cattle. Born in Germany in 1850, he later moved to Liverpool, England. Although very prolific, Oswald exhibited very little, with one known exhibition at the Walker Gallery in Liverpool in 1892. He is listed in The Dictionary of British Artists, Painters in the Northern Counties of England and Wales by Dennis Child and A Dictionary of Neglected Artists by Jeremy Wood.

His paintings typically feature landscapes and rural scenes, particularly highlighting Highland cattle and working horses. Oswald's style is recognized for its distinctive portrayal of Highland cattle, which has become quite sought after​ (The Lytham St Annes Art Collection)​​ (Friends of LSAArt)​​ (Premier Paintings)​.

This oil painting by Charles W. Oswald depicts a serene rural scene featuring three horses tied to a fence next to a thatched-roof barn. The landscape around them includes lush greenery and trees with a gentle sky that suggests either early morning or late afternoon. The painting and the frame overall are in good condition. Signs of age and wear. Some stable craquelures.
