Grateful Dead Fans ! who don't own this 1964 Music Treasure ?! ... Whoa ! -- just like Bill Walton once said ... " So, Where Have You Been ?!? "  Well, as you might well expect ... this is a Rare ! one - and Musically ? ... for Real-Good reason !!!  Talk about " Pre-Grateful Dead " Roots at their Finest ... well this it It !  Truly one of the Best ! Pre-'65 ( Magoos Pizza Parlor ! ) recordings that even exists ... and, very-fine audio quality too - considering the circumstances ... Ha !  The Title is no joke at all either here fellow Fans - as this is indeed the " Mother McCree's Uptown Jug Champions " 6-Piece Band performing Live ! at the ' Top of the Tangent' in Palo Alto, California ... in 1964 !!!  And, this " 6-Piece " line-up went just like this ... you know, 50-Years Ago ! -- and, just about 1-Year before The Grateful Dead were even ' officially ' Born ! as a Band in 1965 ... Jerry Garcia on Guitar, Kazoo, Banjo & Vocals -- Ron " Pigpen " McKernan on Harmonica & Vocals -- Bob " Pre-Ace ! " Weir on Guitar, Washtub Bass, Foot Crasher Jug, Kazoo & Vocals -- Dave Parker on Washboard Tub, Kazoo, Tin Cup & Vocals -- Tom Stone on Banjo, Mandolin, Guitar & Vocals -- and Mike Garrett on Washtub Bass, Guitar & Kazoo !!!!!!  A tried & true " Jug Band " in the true sense of the word, and the lost art form too !  Wow ...  Even Jeffrey Norman remastered this one too, way back in 1999 - so naturally ... sound quality just as nice as you could ever hope for ! --- from '64 !?!  This one came out around 25-Years-Ago ! now days ... and it was well-received ! by the Dead Fan Faithful to say the very least, as before this - nothing had even remotely come out .. as rare & as cool to date.  And, come to think of it -- what else even has been pro-released that is this Awesome, Vintage, Vital - and just really Off-the-Wall - ' Different ' ... but in a Solid ! Musically-Talented way !!?  There is some Serious - Spirit !! in these Eighteen ( 18 ) Live Tracks contained, and it is almost to the point where you just get the feeling that these Boys were just looking to actually " make it " as a Jug Band ! ... just Clearly ! giving there all for this Seriously-Lucky ! Palo Alto Crowd !  A Home-Town Show too even, if I may.  Hey Now though ... let's just be glad, thankful, and count our lucky stars that this Band ' didn't ' hit the big-time ... right ?  I mean that in itself could have made that Glorious ! 30-Year Grateful Dead career a thing that never happened ?!?  Wow !!?  Hey, well let's just say this ... you had better get to clearing a little extra space on that " keep forever " CD Rack of yours in that ' Cherished ' Music Collection -- because this one is Nothing ! short of a Jug Band Treasure !!!  Enjoy !!!!!
