Please find for offer a large portrait painting of Saint Francis, dating to the mid 18th century. Oil on canvas laid to board and presented in a 19th century carved giltwood Florentine frame. The painting depicts a head and shoulder portrait of Saint Francis with a radiating gold halo, wearing a cross pendant and holding a white feather – a symbol of being the patron saint of the environment and animals.

Condition:

The painting has been later laid onto board. Scattered small areas of touch-ins/overpaint. Craqueleur that is slightly raised in places (see last photo in raked light) but seems stable. Some surface dirt & spotting. Otherwise okay condition and displays well. Frame appears good with no major losses. Please examine photos carefully.
