Dr. Frankenroid- Stitching together and resurrecting Polaroid one sale at a time.

If you can't join them....Beat them!!!!!!!

This a rare Polaroid camera. This is a factory pre-production made specifically for film test engineers. Notice the camera has no name? There is an inconspicuous "CAMERA" tag on the film door. There is no Polaroid logo on the flash unit and it simply states "Polaroid Land Camera". The reason the camera has no name is because this camera was constructed prior to the production of the official 600 series camera. One of my favorite things, when on a road trip on Route 66 in the American Southwest, is seeing all of the test automobiles on the road. The test vehicles are clad with plating to hide the actual car beneath. In a way this camera follows this theme. The film test engineer could carry this camera in public and shoot without anybody knowing exactly what the camera was. This camera was made for a specific engineer and signed out to that individual who was responsible for maintaining the trade secrets. The original test engineer's initials and last four of their social is hand written on a sticker and placed where the cameras serial number should be. This Polaroid 660 Series Factory PreProduction is in perfect cosmetic and operational condition. The rarity and the history behind it means this 600 series camera will only appreciate in value. You can tell by the price that this is not a camera I will part with easily. It is worth every cent! This is a piece of American Instant film history and tells a great story.

Variations that exist only on this particular camera are.....

1) Flash Housing Name Plate states 'Polaroid Land Camera' and is without the era Polaroid logo which is unique to only this camera .

2) Front of Flash Housing Cover states "POLAROID" in raised silver lettering and is also without Polaroid logo which is unique to only this camera.

3) Flash Housing Cover is without red and green flash charge lights which is unique to only this camera.

4) Silver accent paint is completely unique to only this camera.

5) Film Door Cover Plate states 'Camera' in raised silver lettering and not the model number 660 which is unique to only this camera .

6) Texture on Film Door Cover Plate and Flash Housing Name Plate is totally unique to only this camera.

7) The Flash Override Switch has an oval white painted circle on back which is unique to only this camera.

8)  There is a green square on the film counter on the empty space which is unique to only this camera.

9) In place of the serial number sticker is a sticker with the original Polaroid engineer's initials and last four SSN which is unique to only this camera .

Other slight variations exist.
