Lee Milmon

Texture, Shape, Color, the interplay of light with shapes, colors, texture and a variety of mediums. The nuance of the line. The subtle movement of color. The gentleness of the surface. Lee has dedicated her life to expressing her fine art and created her pieces with the philosophy that "life is art". Gifted from an early age, her family moved from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Denver just as she was ready to embark on her adult adventure of college and beyond.

Lee began her education by attending the Philadelphia Museum College of Art in 1957. She then moved to the Chicago Art Institute and from there to the University of Denver. Lee received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1962 and continued on to receive her Masters in Art, completing her formal education in 1971 with a Masters in Fine Art with an emphasis in drawing and painting.

Upon completion of her degree she maintained a relationship with academia while exploring her own career in fine art. She taught at numerous locations in the Denver area. Some of note are the Colorado Institute of Art, Metro State College, Colorado Women's College and the University of Denver.

In just over three decades Lee has achieved an enviable record of exhibitions and awards. She has participated in over 400 contemporary art exhibitions. Approximately two hundred were one-person events. The shows have included not only highly regarded private galleries in Europe, Mexico and the United States, but also a number of prestigious museum institutions as well. She has won acclaim because she is highly motivated, a sound designer and technician, successful in her expressive purpose and one of the truly avant-garde artists of her time.
