KM 27 and Gadoury 11, one year type, issued while the area was normally under French control, but while France was under the control of German forces during World War II. As an ally of Germany, Japanese forces occupied French Indo China during World War II. French Indo China was a union of the French protectorates of Annam, Tonkin, Cambodia and Laos and the colony of Cochin China. After Japanese control ended, the areas became territories within the French Union in 1946, and all the inhabitants became French citizens. Dime size aluminum coin, with a hole in the center as minted.

Krause does not specify where this coin was minted; Gadoury indicates that it was minted in Hanoi.
