Description:

The 0960-0684 (QEDS-8831) rotary pulse generator (RPG) replaces the analog function of conventional resistive potentiometers and is often used as a human-machine interface (HMI) device for front panel instruments and audio-visual boards.

These rotary pulse generators utilize quadrature optical encoders, which are pure digital devices acting as analog potentiometers.

These rotary pulse generators appear similar to resistive or conventional potentiometers.

However, the internal systems of these rotary switches are fully digitalized and using optical technology.

Similar to conventional incremental encoders, these rotary pulse generators have two quadrature outputs (Channel A and Channel B).

These rotary pulse generators internal system works and interface directly with typical quadrature decoders such as Avago's HCTL-2022, HCTL-2032, or a microprocessor, and does not require special analog-to-digital conversion circuitry.
