Artist Sonnet® pastel 48-color set. Dimensions: 2 3/8" x 5/16". The pastels are produced with the use of fine-dispersed pigments. Besides applying the traditional pastel painting techniques, Sonnet® pastel colors can be mixed with some other painting materials such as ink, gouache, watercolor, acrylic, colored pencils, and watercolor pencils. They spread well on both even and textural surfaces. The pastel stumps nicely and allows for bold strokes. It is possible to draw with it on a wet surface.

The pastels are more in the category of hard/soft (probably closer to Creta Color from Austria), but they work well when water is added, and they will work fine as a base for other softer pastels. They are also good as a travel set since they won't break or flake as easy as some of the softer pastels.
