Shimano Revolution Travel Spin Rods
Rod blank and ferrule design has come such a long way in the past five or more years that multi-piece rods are no longer a second-class option. This is great news for travelling anglers or those who struggle to find space to store longer single and even two-piece rods. With decades of rod building and blank design knowledge to draw upon, the Australian Rod Builder Ian Miller has obviously been a major influence in making multi-piece ‘travel’ rods more widely accepted. From the 5’ 10” baitcaster to the 7’ 6” heavy spin, all the rods break down to three pieces thanks to a near undetectable ferruling system, while the 9’ spin stick breaks down to four. Consequently, we now have rods for use with baitcasters, rods for estuary work, rods for saltwater spin fishing, even a rod for light beach, breakwall and rock work. The blanks these excellent rods are based on are high modulus 24-30 Ton Toray graphite, while the reel seats are customised to suit the rod’s particular application and supported by split EVA grips. The guides are high quality Fuji K series with Alconite inserts.
