Scandium is one the 14 rare earth metals ( precious metals ) 


•Scandium is a silvery- white metallic rare-earth metal. 

•Scandium is difficult to isolate in its pure form. It wasn't until 1960 that the first pound of scandium was produced.

•Scandium is lighter than aluminum and has a much higher melting point than aluminum, making it an interest to spacecraft designers. 

•The cost of scandium has prevented it from becoming used in mainstream applications.
