Customer Reviews:
Kevin - I bought these snow chains last Saturday. The previous day I had travelled to work in appalling snow conditions. Having recently purchased my first rear wheel drive BMW Series 1, I quickly discovered how bad the car handled in the snow - frightening. So, I ordered these on Saturday at 6.00pm, paid extra for next day delivery. They arrived at 2.00pm the next day - brilliant service. I fitted the chains straight away, just to see how hard or easy they were to fit. It's fair to say that they are fiddly things to fit, but a bit of practise does the trick. This morning, I awoke to an overnight snow fall of approximately 3inches. I fitted them in cold, dark and wet conditions at 6.30am (took about 15mins) - not a good start. But when I set off on my 12 mile journey to work I quickly discovered what a bargain these chains were. The extra traction and grip was fantastic. After 3 miles I decided to take a route to work via quiet country lanes and had no problems. At one stage I encountered fours cars stuck on a hill and I smuggly passed them with ease. I'd recommend anyone who has a car that does not perform well in snow and ice to have a set in the car. Make sure that you keep a torch, gloves and a small mat to kneel on when fitting. I love these chains!!!!!
John - The chains were bought to have in the car in case of emergency so when I became stuck on a hill in the snow a couple of weeks later I was very pleased to have them with me. With the instructions to hand they fitted relatively easily - next time will be easier - and the car made it to the top without difficulty . A word of caution here; DO follow the instructions when taking them off. I didn't and managed to entangle the chains with a mounting for a cable running to the wheel hub - part of the ABS I think - and that took some time to disentangle. It is straightforward if you follow the instructions.
Second word of caution; somewhere in the small print with the instructions it advises that you dry the chains after use. If you don't, they rust, and although they are kept in a handy, if rather fragile, plastic case, the rusty water can drain slowly out and stain whatever is beneath them in the boot. As an all-season camper I will take them with me to give traction up steep, wet grassy slopes. They'd probably help in mud too, but I'd want someone else to put them on !!!
Overall they represent very good value for money and will certainly serve well for occasional use; they give me much more confidence when driving in challenging conditions. For frequent use I would spend a bit more and buy heavier gauge, more rust resistant chains.
Claire - Quality chains, had them out over the last week twice, easy to get on actually even though they look mental and they are entirely necessary if you live in the sticks.
Matt - Arrived on time, nice case waiting for some snow.
Gavin - Simple to fit and cheap enough to 'Be Prepared'
