From my perch on the rocks that tower over the beach, I look down upon the campfires of other dawn-seekers celebrating the first sunrise of the new year.

I watch as the soft glow on the grey horizon intensifies into a crescendo of violets, pinks, and blues. The elegant lone tree joins me in my celebration of the new year, and we watch heaven meet earth in a dramatic splash of colour and light."
