When resetting chips on genuine Epson cartridges you will need to reset your cartridges before the ink level goes below around 15%.

When resetting chips on genuine Epson cartridges you will need to reset your cartridge before your printer or printer driver status monitor shows an "X" inside the the ink level icon. Any cartridge that already indicates "X" cannot not reset. The resetter light may turn green but it will still indicate "X" or unrecognised when reisnstalled.

Some Compatible cartridges do not have such a sensor and can be reset when empty or at any point in between.
