About falafel ...

Falafel are balls of ground chickpeas and / or fava beans. They are usually served in a pita bag or wrapped in a flatbread, known as Lafa. The falafel balls are garnished with lettuce, pickled vegetables and spicy sauce and served with tahini-based sauces. Falafel balls can also be eaten singly as a snack or part of a meze.

In general, it is believed that they were first established in Egypt, where the court in the Cairo dialect is widely known as طعمية (Ta'amiya). They later became known as courts throughout the Middle East. Falafel (פלאפל) are often also regarded as the national court of Israel.
