DMC Floche is a silky embroidery thread ideal for fine embroidery, needlepoint, delicate stitches such as openwork, cutwork, whitework, smocking, shadow work and openwork, as well as for fine motifs such as monograms and initials. It is especially suited for embroidering household linen and other creative stitchery.
It is composed of 5 non-divisible strands of long staple cotton, into a silky soft size 16 threads. It is about the same size as two strands of the regular embroidery floss, but has much better coverage when stitching due to the 5-ply construction. Each skein is 10 grams of gorgeous thread, approximately 150 yard.
The threads are divided into several listings by color numbers. Each floche color is exactly the same as the DMC 6-strand floss of the same color, but will look a bit brighter when stitched side by side from the silky sheen. The listings are:
- Colors 208-739 (this listing), white, ecru, B5200 (snow white)
- Colors 740-3689, also includes white, ecru and B5200 (snow white) for your convenience
To get a full set of the all colors, please select the "One each of all 94 colors" for color. You can also build up your stash in stages and get 1/4 of the colors at a time, and select the "color xx - xx One of each color" as the color choice, then your size of the choice. Each set counts as 1 item for shipping calculation so you save on shipping cost in additional to a per-skein discount.
This thread is interchangeable with the DMC Broder Special size 25, which has 4 non-divisible strands, in 181 colors. The color ranges over lap between the threads, and I have put together the set of 17 colors available in Floche but not in Broder Special.
