This chromolithograph image is a page from the W Duke & Sons Heroes of the Civil War album - a redemption offer from the company in 1889. THE ALBUM WAS AVAILABLE BY SENDING IN A COUPLE HUNDRED COUPONS THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN ISSUED ONE PER PACK OF CIGARETTES. iT TOOK A LOT OF PACKS TO SEND IN FOR ONE ALBUM.. The pages from this album measure approx. 7" by 11". The chromolithographic images look beautiful and vibrant in person. The album itself consisted of pages featuring 50 of the most famous Civil War generals from both the North and South, in addition to a couple additional images of the most famous battles from the Civil War. These images look great framed. The images of these generals are the same images used for the booklets that were issued in the packs of caigarettes. This is a vintage 1889 issue by Duke cigarettes. The backs of the lithographs contain the remainder of the text that was included in the individual booklets that were issued in the packs of cigarettes. This is a chance to purchase a cheaper version of the individual booklets. These pages are vintage 1889 and were once part of the premium album. The scan of the back is just an example back and does not relate to this album .I wanted to show the writing on the back.. Please see my other auctions for more prints from this album. 3.50 S & H
