The Classic removal tool works by tapping the bearing from the inside out with a hammer.

The Pro removal tool gently pulls the bearing out as you turn the nut.

If you are installing bearings into a new frame, you may choose to install one bearing at a time. One of the BB30 plates has an extra lip which makes it sit inside the empty BB shell of the frame, allowing you to fit the first bearing (this is our own design, beware of cheap imitations on eBay). Install the second bearing separately.

Guidance

Please contact us if you are unsure which kind of press fit bottom bracket you have; there are many different standards and even conversion BBs to change from one standard to another (eg to fit 24mm Shimano cranks in a BB30 frame etc). Fortunately we are experts and we have a wide range of tools available to cover almost every standard.

Our bearing press tools are available in standard form (2x 19mm spanners required), or with our exclusive Pro long handles, or just buy the press plates if you already have another Burton Bikes tool or another 12mm press.

DO NOT attempt to install press fit bearings without specific press plates; you will be pressing against the wrong part of the bearing if you use simple flat plates or washers. Cheaper versions on eBay will push against the wrong part of the BB and you will cause damage to your bearings.
