**Also for our traders... some important technical information on comparing the actual performance difference between a 4-core system inappropriately referred to as a "QUAD" system, which instead actually houses a "2x Dual Core system," and which might then also be quoted with a seemingly higher GHz base speed rate quote than the base speed rate quote of a true "QUAD CORE PROCESSOR" (a single processor composed of four true physical cores) within a system, and especially when compared to an 8 core (2x QUAD CORE) system, and the actual performance differences and ERRONEOUS implications that can then commonly follow (ie., be careful of the "apples and oranges" effect in base speed GHz quotes among Dual Core and true QUAD CORE processors, and how some vendors may 'highlight" quote base speeds between Dual Cores and true QUAD CORES that can be misleading, especially regarding a system's actual power and performance in overall speed and real-time market dat processing capability, and that actually supports and benefits effective cloud-based platform trading within a real-time market extended visibility display area workstation/tradestation setup)... 

FROM "VMware Community" RE: CPU SYSTEMS...

 "Forget the (GHz base speed) number.  One quad core processor is faster than one dual core processor.  It's just like a Pentium D processor.  You can buy a 3.8Ghz Pentium D and how fast is that?  Well it has like 512K of cache, vs 2 meg or 4 meg dual core cache.  Dual core when they were first introduced were faster, even though they were only 1.6Ghz.  That's not combined speed, that's PER core, so sure 2 of them comprise 3.2GHz, but a SINGLE processor on a dual processor can outperform even a Pentium D 3.8GHz processor.  Why? Because they were designed to be more efficient.  More instructions per second, more L2 cache, faster FSB, and the processor itself is more powerful (even though it's less than half the speed).  NOW, you put two of them on a socket, and you have a really fast processor (set) ...  

Move ahead (from Dual Core) to  Quad Core, and the same increases, better performance, and larger cache accounts for EACH core being faster.  They can do more, at slower rated speed, and still use less power. That's the difference!" 

Further Note:  So also be particularly cautious of any vendor who would actually advertise their system as a "Quad" Core system and quotes a certain GHz base speed when the system actually contains only "Dual" Core processors at that GHz base speed!
