Information about Malcolm Davis: Working exclusively in porcelain, Malcolm Davis designs spirited, graceful pottery for daily use. His work is inspired by folk traditions, including the early pots from the first century in Korea to the dung-fired pots of the original inhabitants of the Americas. Davis received his BS degree in mathematics from The College of William and Mary and a Master of Divinity from Union Theological Seminary. He studied ceramics at the Corcoran School of Art. In 1981 he resigned his position as Ecumenical Chaplain at George Washington University to become a full-time studio potter. He received several Individual Artist Grants from the D.C. Commission on the Arts and Humanities. His work is in the collections of the Museum of Arts & Design (NY), Everson Museum of Art (NY), Sarah Lawrence College and Mobach Collection (Holland).
