Description

Handsome and very early Rochester Optical wood box folding camera from the late 1800's. The camera came from a camera collector's estate. Included are three glass plate film holders made from the same wood as the camera. This camera has a fabulously primitive look, and may be an early "Premo" (?). The wood box has no markings, but the lense is marked "R.O. 4x5", and one of the plate holders is marked "Premo Film Pack Adapter". The wood has a wonderful patina and the hardware is brass, including the handle on top. The bellows are in very nice condition, and I found no holes or cracks in them. The back of the camera is frosted glass. The bottom of the camera has a threaded metal piece for the tripod. There are some extra holes in the wood door on the front (that folds down to extend the bellows), and there may be some missing parts. We are not antique camera experts, so please feel free to ask any and all questions. We are offering the camera as a display piece, or for parts. Overall, the camera has a wonderful antique ambiance and displays beautifully. Thanks for looking.
