The StylinVFD FT-Serial Color Filters are specialize in filtering the "green fluorescent color" of Vacuum Fluorescent Display, VFD display into a serial of popular colors.

All color filters are designer picked for the best filtering result, in both the best tonality for color matching and the best transparency for brightness.

The filter are made of hight quality thin polymer, just like film, it’s stiff and got a great clarity.

Also ,because it’s thin, it’s light weight, very flexible, and trim-able by scissor, so it can be easily apply into most existing vintage devices, as well as your new DIY projects.

[ How to choose ]

How to get the right filter model:

1. Choose the COLOR

Choose what the color you want your display to transform to.

The decision can be based on what’s your favor color and/or what color matches your POS sets or your store the best.

Or apply two or more color for different line or segment to reflect your brand CI or your campaign.

2. Choose the APPLICATION

In this step, you need to specify what kind of device you are going to apply our filter on.

For achieving the COLOR you choose in the first step for various devices with or without it’s original cover, you'll need specific model of filter to do the job.

Here, please pick the closest APPLICATION for your project, and we’ll provide the best matched filter for you.

- For your DIY/under-developing device without any cover or with existing/vintage device with almost clear cover,

simply choose the model C ( bundle for clear/no cover), each bundle include one sheet of FTx-Y color filter and one sheet of GY1 ( Gray ) filter.

You can also purchase additional GY series of filter to add extra layer(s) for more darken or decent gray look.

- For an existing/vintage device with a plastic/glass cover, although most color of the cover looks dark/black,

but they are actually different in essence, that’s what we have to identify and done a little test here.

By shining a strong light thought them, the essence color of the cover will then can be easy to distinguish.

According to the test result, you can then choose the corresponding model,

Y ( for gray cover ), B ( for blue cover ), N ( for green cover ), R ( for brown cover ),

for those looks pretty gray and hard to tell if it’s gray or other color, just choose model Y ( for gray cover ),

it’ll work fine for most cases.

One thing have to notice here, if your existing/vintage device with it’s original plastic/glass cover already filtered the digits/characters to the color far from fluorescent green (or some call blue green) when power on, then unfortunately the FT serial of filter will NOT get the correct result on those cases.

3. Choose the SIZE

Choose the filter SIZE in the listing for your project.

In this step you need to measure your VFD display, and decide the applying area for your project.

We usually choose the filter SIZE which is a little larger then the applying area for the best coverage, and trim off the excess part simply by scissor and keep it for other small projects.

About the applying area, we suggest it should at least completely cover the front of the glass tube. If you only cover the digits/characters instead of the whole glass tube, there will be some green light leaking from the side, and will visually makes you feel the whole color doesn’t right.

PLEASE NOTE the actual size of the filter might have ±1mm margin between the listed SIZE.

[ What will you get ]

This listing provides you a Film Type VFD Display Color Filter.

You will get a pice of filter film, as the 6th photo showed, the color and size will depends on your choice form the listing.

We may provides you some StylinVFD stickers as bonus, if it’s still available.

All other devices and tools showed in photos are just for demo will not be included.

The actual size of the filter might have ±1mm tolerance.

The actual color of the film may looks different form the listed COLOR, the listed COLOR are the filtered result, not the color of the filter itself, so please don't panic, that’s what color filters are.

[ How to test ]

Our packaging allows you to test and to simulate the final looks, without taking the filter out.

Simply slide out the transparent plastic bag which holding the filter film, then put it against the display, and please DO test and simulate it in a DARK ENVIRONMENT with ALL LIGHTS OFF for the best result !!

If you are testing with a small piece of sample before a full size purchase, please DO cover out all non-testing area of the display with dark paper or thick cardboard, leaving only a small window for the filter, for getting the best result !!

[ Doesn’t get the result I want for my project ? ]

The filter will certainly do the job, but of will definitely having slightly difference between various VFD displays.

Our packaging designed to let you test without taking the filter out, so you will be able to quickly test the approximate result and still keeping it within a return-able state.
