This lens has received quite a bit of use and has associated ordinary wear from handling but shoots beautifully, producing exceedingly crisp, contrasty images even when shot wide-open at f/4, even on modern high-resolution camera bodies. Its single notable flaw is a break in the plastic ring just in front of the lens' aperture ring, visible in the photos. This ring is held down be three small screws and is still therefore properly attached. Nothing is loose and no no operational consequences are evident, making the defect primarily cosmetic in nature. The lens' tripod ring, focus limiter ring, aperture ring all work well, and manual focus is nice and smooth with no trace of grittiness, stickiness or other undesirable qualities. AF is likewise smooth and quiet and proved dead-on accurate in my testing. The lens' diaphragm, which is exposed on this design, is clean, dry and exhibits perfect, quick, symmetrical action. Be sure to view the attached photos in the enlarged format, and please feel free to ask any questions prior to purchase. You will not be disappointed.

A Sigma 82mm pinch-style front lens cap has been substituted for the original Nikon drawstring soft cap and is a functional improvement as the original drawstring cap is somewhat troublesome to use. Included in the listing is the lens with this Sigma front cap, Nikon rear cap and drop-in filter holder complete with Nikon 39mm L37C clear filter as shown.
