Regensburg Antique German Lidded Mug Beer Stein ca.1880
Stoneware, relief , 0.5L, pewter lid

This unusual beer stein has been made in Germany around 1880. This type a stein collectors called "Regensburg", by the name of the region where it was first produced, even though the majority were made in Westerwald. These steins were press-molded to a wooden form, they were turned afterwards to make the insides round, then they were fired and the salt was applied to create the very solid surface. This stein has three panels decorating the body. Stein has repair at the base. Inlaid lid has hairline, that you can see on the photos.
