We are very pleased to offer for sale one of our favorite pieces, a RARE Ancient Egyptian Gold amulet:

ROMAN EGYPT 1st CENTURY AD.
Serapis was a Graeco-Egyptian god. The cult of Serapis was introduced during the 3rd Century BC on the orders of Ptolemy I of Egypt as a means to unify the Greeks and Egyptians in his realm. The god was depicted as Greek in appearance, but with Egyptian trappings, and combined iconography from a great many cults, signifying both abundance and resurrection. Serapis was essentially a construct of the Ptolemaic Greek rulers, a conflation of the local gods Osiris and Apis (Oserapis / Sarapis).
Serapis continued to increase in popularity during the Roman period, often replacing Osiris as the consort of Isis in temples outside of Egypt.

This small pendant amulet is of hollow construction and wears the Egyptian modius (grain measure) headdress. Zeus Serapis holds his drapes with his left hand. His right hand holds the modius on his head. Suspension loop on back.
