Instruction: How to Iron on a Patch

Lay down your cloth on a flat, heat-resistant surface (ironing board). To ensure the item will provide a good flat surface for the patch, iron it first. If the item is difficult to iron, like a backpack or another difficult item, do your best to arrange it so that the part of the fabric that will be receiving the patch is flat against a hard surface.

Place the patch in the place you want to attach it. The adhesive side should be flat against the fabric. Make sure that the patch isn't creased or damaged. The adhesive side is the underside of the patch.

Heat up the iron. Set the iron to the hottest setting your fabric can tolerate. Turn off the "steam" option, and that your iron isn't full of water.
Place a thin towel or cloth over the patch. Make sure the patch isn't disturbed. The towel will protect the patch and your fabric.

Place the heated iron over the patch and press firmly. Hold the iron in place for about 15 seconds.

Remove the iron and allow the patch to cool. Lift the towel and check to see if the patch is fixed on securely, by gently rubbing at the sides with a finger. If the sides lifts up a bit, replace the towel and press it with the iron again for 10 seconds. Ensure the patch has good contact with fabric.
