TSUGE as a Japanese endemic species is grown around western Japan and a very precious material which is called a DIAMOND of WOODS. This as material for comb has left for about 5 years in order to evaporate water after cutting down. In consequently, it would be hard, light and preserving. TSUGE is used not only comb, but also Kanzashi, a piece for Shogi and stamp so it is a must material to make Japanese crafts.

About TSUGE combs in our store
We transact directly with craftsmen who make TSUGE combs one by one by their own hands. Their designs are all made by a technique as called SUKASHIBORI using a ITONOKO. Only they making its have this technique. Therefore complicated products would be taken 6 months up to a year. Furthermore the craftsmen make their own ITONOKO by themselves. As a result, they can handle it like a magic.
These combs are aimed to care of your long hairs, and of course are Japanese traditional crafts with excellent techniques. Thus it would be possible to decorate in your room or exhibition space.
It is said that Nandina domestica is fortunate wood, and means well being or great family. Resins are poured into green leaves. When you shed light on it, that will be amazing.

The colour of a comb might be deeper than picture we attached because we send the comb having soaked right through into camellia oil.
The comb cases are made by craftsman in Kyoto, and we have several types of them. You could choose only favourite colour. However, we might not be able to respond your request depending on the stock status.
