Very Large Old Spanish Green Glass Demijohn

“Damajuana” Wine Bottle, “Viresa”, 30 Liters

This lovely and very large old authentic Spanish green glass demijohn wine bottle has a 30 liter capacity as stamped on the neck. It is also stamped on the neck with the name of the manufacturer, “Viresa”, glass manufacturer in the region of Valencia. The glass shows some charming little air bubbles resulting from the handblown process. In Spanish, a demijohn is called a “damajuana”, from the French “Dame-Jeanne”, in honor of the first Queen Jeanne of Naples, Countess of Provence, who encouraged a Provencal glassmaker to create this type of wine bottle. This bottle was used -- as they still are today in Spain -- to preserve wine or fruit brandy (“eau de vie”). In excellent condition, this demijohn will be a handsome addition to your décor or your collection.

No questions asked return policy. Items must be returned in 14 business days. Item must be returned undamaged, in its original condition and packed, shipped, and insured in the same manner. Buyer pays return shipping and a 10% restocking fee.
