| Comments: | A Vintage 1970's photograph featuring one of the most charming images ever captured of Yankee sluggers Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig at Shibe Park on Opening Day in 1932. Ruth was the most photographed athlete of the first-half of the 20th Century but here he is 'behind' the camera. He tries his hands at photography as he attempts to capture a picture perfect shot of his home run twin - Lou Gehrig. The offered photo is a later-generation example that was made in the 1970's off of the original negative and was once part of the news photo service Photofest's working library of press photos. It is what is classified as a TYPE II photo but is a vintage example that is approximately 40-years old in age (as opposed to a cheap modern copy). If you love Ruth, Gehrig, the Yankees or baseball photography in general, then there really is no better photograph than this one ! |
