Due to an increase in unpaid items and cancellations, we are now enforcing eBay’s “Unpaid Item” policy. Their policy states, “If you've placed a winning bid or clicked the Buy It Now button in a listing, you've committed to purchasing that item. If you don't pay for it, even if you've changed your mind, you violate the unpaid item policy.” If you choose to not pay for, or cancel, an item, we will open an unpaid item case against you and work with eBay to have your buying privileges revoked. We are a small business and it is unfair for us to suffer losses each week due to customers changing their minds or not reading the full description of an item. Before bidding, please make sure you have read through the listing, considered any shipping or import/duty charges, and are willing to pay your high bid. Thank you for your understanding!

Notable Features: This necklace was handmade during the Retro period of the Art Deco era. The necklace features 89 Akoya pearls throughout its length, each showcasing a lustrous light creamrose hue. The pearls were hand-strung on a silk string, which was double knotted between each pearl for added style and to prevent damage from friction. At 27.5", this necklace is considered opera length. The entire piece is finished off with a 14k yellow gold filigree fishhook clasp, which adds a classic detail to this beautiful piece. This is an elegant and timeless piece, appropriate for any occasion.
Damage: Age appropriate wear. There are a couple of areas where the double knotting has come undone and very slightly increased the length between beads. This is hardly noticeable and does not affect the wear of the necklace. If desired, your local jeweler can tighten the strand. The necklace could use a light cleaning with mild soap and water.

The History
This beautiful piece comes from the Art Deco era! The Art Deco era is famous for being the "Gatsby" or "Roaring Twenties" era. A lot of gorgeous and timeless designs in jewelry came out of this period.
During the Art Deco period jewelers often made jewelry upon custom order, this would often take weeks to months to completely craft by hand.
Retro jewelry refers to pieces created in the 1940s and 1950s, a period during which jewelry designers were largely influenced by the changes accompanying World War II. As the name of the period suggests, these designs reflect an infusion of futuristic vision with elements inspired by preceding periods, encompassing a variety of gemstones, shapes, and materials.
Filigree metal working has been around for thousands of years, however it was perfected by the Phoenicians and Etruscan civilizations. It involves stamping out a design in metal and hand bending and twirling until the final design emerges. It is considered one of the most difficult metal working processes.
Akoya Pearls have a stunning luster and beautiful round shape. They are considered elegant and are very sought after. During the Art Deco period, Akoya Pearls were rare, expensive to own, and reserved for the richest of the rich!
