You are bidding on a 1975 Ibanez Custom Agent Electric guitar. This Electric guitar represents Ibanez’s
parent companies attempt at placating the folks at Norlin back in 1974. You see Norlin is the parent company the
Gibson Guitar company and Gibson was upset because man of the guitars that
Hoshino was importing into this country in the late 70’s under the Ibanez and
other names were exact visual copies of Gibson products, right down to accurate
copies of the copywrited headstock designs….anyway Hoshino solved the problem
by droping the clones for the US market and introducing 28 new guitar designs
in 1978….the Custom Agent was one of the first attempt at original designs.
Custom Agent" sells for $750-$1500 depending on condition, color , etc-this guitar is priced with the condition in mind.
This guitar is in very good condition-of course there are the usual small "pings" and "bigs" on the edges of the guitar -as expected from a 40+ year old, especially on the edge (see picts), but nothing structural-this guitar has great bones-nice straight neck with beefly frets and low action. The pickups lost the covers years ago, I do not have the original covers.
This guitar has all the features and hallmarks of a collectible guitar :
7 Ply Binding
Fancy Body Applicae
Maxon pickups (S 70's)
Full Length Laminated Neck (no Scarf Joint)
Sealed Gear (Gotoh) Star Tuners
Old School knobs
Fancy scroll Pickguard (VERY RARE ! )
Old Time URN headstock Logo
Script Logo
This guitar is in Very Good condition –the front is a 8.5/10
and the back is an 8.5/10-discounted for the edge chips as noted, and some small pickmarks and dings-check out the detailed pictures. The hardware has faded and aged gracefully, fully functional. The headstock scrolls are intact, The frets show only the minimal wear on the cowboy chords only-theres plenty of
meat on these frets for at least two dressings, but it just doesn’t need it
yet. This guitar would make a great addition to any guitar collection !
Were putting a "make us an offer" option on this guitar as it is pretty rare and if you want it, make an offer cause this one will not last-these are pretty rare with the old school logo...Heres an opportunity to own one of these rare beasties -its ripe to be restored, or just play it like it is !
Overall this is a great example of one of the rarer Japanese imports in very good condition-heres a chance to try out one of these-they were good enough to have Gibson worried in the late 70's-and for good reason.
Anyway heres a chance to own one of the early Japanese gems in very Good condition ! Its a great looking head turner and a fantastic sounding guitar !. Guitar will ship in a ugly period correct hardshell case that will protect it during shipping. If you care about such things, you may want to purchase a better looking display case.
