Designed Specifically for Electricians. TEMCo Industrial's long 3/16" steps properly drill holes sized for common draw studs on your conduit knock out punch set. That means no more going in through the other side or oversizing your hole just to get the draw stud in.
Cuts Fast! - Impact Driver Ready. Never used an impact driver on a step drill bit before? You're missing out - if you need to punch out a bunch of conduits, this is a huge time saver. If you're just using a regular drill, that's ok - the hex shape makes sure the bit isn't slipping on the chuck.
Not all "cobalt" high speed steel (HSS) step drill bits are made the same. The business end of our bits are made from high quality M35 Cobalt HSS. Other high speed steels that don't contain cobalt, like M2 HSS, have much lower rated "red hardness", which means more wear at higher temperatures. M35 HSS is also rated to be tougher than M42 HSS, which also contains cobalt. That means our steel properties are balanced to keep a sharp edge, even when it's heating up, so it can keep up with your hard work. We've also taken the time to add a second flute, which means double the cutting edges and halving the time it takes to drill that hole. A second flute also means the wear is evenly distributed across two flutes instead of just one, also increasing the lifespan of the bit.
Uncoated or Titanium Nitride? TEMCo's step drill bits currently come uncoated (Part Number: TH0357), or coated with Titanium Nitride (Part Number: TH0356). The added layer of Titanium Nitride is primarily to increase the bit's abrasion resistance, adding the ultimate layer of protection to an already robust step drill bit, therefore increasing the wear life.
